Death Penalty for 1984 Sikh Riots

Supreme court imposes life imprisonment and the death penalty on two of the accused in the 1984 sikh riots.

In 1984 the sikh riots shook the country.

Today after 34 years Yashpal Singh a 55 year old, was given the death punishment for killing  two sikh youth by the Supreme court.

The Supreme court also imposed a fine of 35 lakh on each of them.

The punishment for these crimes are so severe because it was a very rare case.

The crimes were  a bad time in history because people were killed just on the basis of their religion.

The entire sikh community was very badly affected because of these crimes.

This sentenced has opened the door for others wanting justice in their pending cases.
