Couple Shamed for Kissing Behind Dead Lion

A picture of a couple from Canada, kissing next to Lion that they had killed has gone viral over the internet.

Trophy Hunting is the shooting of specific animals. The Trophy is the animal (or its head, skin or any other body part ) that the hunter keeps as a souvenir. It is a booming industry and there aren’t many rules about which species can be hunted. Darren and Carolyn Carter are a couple from [Box 03 Edmonton in Canada. They were trophy hunting in South Africa.  The couple clicked a photograph of them kissing next to a lion they had just killed. The captioned the image “Hard work in the hot Kalahari sun,” They posted another image of a lion they killed and captioned it “There is nothing like hunting the king of the jungle,”

These pictures were posted on a Website called Legelela Safaris. It is a tour company which specialises in organising big hunting games.

These pictures went viral over the internet. People worldwide were horrified and the images and asked for a complete ban on Trophy hunting. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) responded to the image demanded a complete bans on trophy hunting. They said that since  many people oppose trophy hunting, everyone must continue to fight so that businesses and governments to listen. Trophy hunting occurs in at least 63 countries. More than half of these are on the African continent. Places like Zimbabwe have always been popular destinations for American hunters. Americans spend thousands of dollars for a chance to shoot iconic species. Around 80% of all trophy hunters worldwide are Americans. In 2017 alone, 650,000 animal "trophies" were imported into the U.S. Many trophy hunters defended themselves and said that this was a way to maintain the balance of nature and manage the population of wild animals. It also helps to support the country’s economy. However many people are not happy to see beautiful creatures killed for the fun of a few people.
