In Gandhinagar, Gujarat, there is a hospital named Gandhinagar Civil Hospital. There are more than 300 patients admitted in that hospital. On 28 July, children admitted to the pediatric ward of the hospital were being served lunch. One of the child’s parents while feeding the sick child was horrified to see that there was a lizard in the khichdi. The parent raised the alarm and told the officials. The same khichdi was served to all the patients in the hospital. Superintendent of Gandhinagar Civil Hospital Dr Niyati Lakhani said that, “The food which is served to the patients comes here through Akshay Patra Foundation. The lizard  was shrivelled and dehydrated, meaning it had got cooked in the food. All those who had consumed the khichdi were put under observation for 3 days. Lucky nobody had any adverse reactions. We have given a stern warning to the foundation and apologise to the patients for this.”
