The rapid spike in the coronavirus cases worldwide has made us even more conscious about our health. People around the globe are taking every necessary precaution to keep themselves safe from getting infected with COVID-19. While it is being promoted to practise social distancing and maintaining good hygiene, wearing a face mask has been made compulsory in almost every public place. Recently there was news about a 26-year-old man from Wuhan, China city ended up in a hospital with a complaint of chest pain after he went for a jog while wearing a face mask. Now that lockdown restrictions have eased in many parts of India, many people have started exercising in public and going for walks while maintaining social distancing.

But if you are exercising should you wear a face mask?

Now as per the WHO latest announcement, people must not wear masks while exercising. As a mask reduces the ability to breathe comfortably. Also while exercising, the sweat can make the mask wet more quickly and this leads to an increase in growth of germs in the masks. The WHO has said that when people go out to exercise, they must make sure to maintain a social distance of at least 1 metre.
