BSNL Employees Not Paid Salary for Month of February

Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited also known as BSNL, is a government owned telecommunications company. This company has not paid more than 1.76 lakh employees their salary for the month of February. BSNL released a statement saying that the employees in Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir were paid their salaries excluding senior officers and board members. As per the statement, employees in the remaining states will be paid before the 21st March.  

Anupam Srivastav is the Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL. He tweeted that the government has given the company it’s full support. He said the company will make sure all the employees are paid before the Holi festival. MTNL is facing similar problems. J.J.Mathias President of MTNL Executive Association said that December’s salary was paid on 5th January and January’s salary was paid on 21st February. MTNL still has not paid the employees salary for the month of February.

In next 5 years 75,000 employees from BSNL and 16,000 employees from MTNL are going to retire at the same time. Both the companies are struggling financially to provide severance packages to these employees. BSNL has asked the government for loans as we
