Brunei imposes Death by stoning for Gay sex and Adultery.

Brunei is a small country on the Island of, famous for its beautiful beaches and Mosques.This country is very close to Malaysia and Indonesia.It is ruled by the Monarch Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.  Brunei is an Islamic country, ruled by a mixture of Sharia (Islamic) Laws and English Common Law. Recently the country has changed some of their strict Sharia Laws.

Now if a person is caught stealing, the punishment is amputation of the right hand for the first offence, and then the left foot if the person is caught again. Homosexuality was only illegal in this country. Now Gay sex will be punished to death by stoning. The country has also imposed death by stoning if a person commits adultery.

67% of the people living in Brunei are Muslims. These laws will only apply to them. This law has been on hold for the last 4 years in the country. It will be imposed from the first week of April. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will make an official announcement regarding the new Sharia Laws on 3rd April. If the country imposes this law, then it will become the only South-Asian country to punish Gay sex with death.

The international community is extremely shocked to hear this news. Hollywood actor George Clooney has said that it is a Human Rights Violation. Many people have said that if the law is imposed, they will boycott this country which is famous for its tourism.
