Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Train Coach Catches Fire

There have been several incidents of animals being hit by the Vande Bharat trains. There have been several incidents where people have thrown stones at the trains as well. Now in a recent incident, a fire broke out in the battery box of a coach of the Vande Bharat train heading from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal to Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi on 17th July morning. The train leaves Bhopal around 5.40 am and reaches Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin station around 1.10 pm The fire incident took place around 7.30 am - 8 am. There were 20-22 passengers in the coach and they were shifted to other coaches immediately. No injury to anyone was reported in the incident. Some railway staffers noticed the fire in the battery box of C-12 coach following which the train was immediately stopped between Kurwai and Kaithora stations. A team of fire brigade officials were immediately called to the spot and all passengers were safely evacuated. Railway staff were conducting the repair work. Visuals from the spot showed smoke billowing out from near the wheels. Railway officials said the fire was limited to the battery box and that the train will be on its way to Delhi as soon as the technical examination is over.
Pawan Kumar, who was travelling in the train, said, "The sound of fire came from the bottom of the coach where the seat was. All the passengers ran away. When the train stopped, I saw that the battery was on fire. Here the local villagers also helped the fire brigade team in extinguishing the fire.” Rani Kamlapati-Nizamuddin is Madhya Pradesh's first Vande Bharat Express Train. It was flagged off on 1st April 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
