BEST Workers End Strike and Accept Pay Hike
1300 BEST employees to receive an increase in salary.
The BEST bus drivers have finally ended the strike after nine days.This the first time that the BEST bus drivers have gone on strike for so long.
The BEST workers accepted an increase in the salary for 13,000 BEST employees. Earlier employees in the junior pay grade earned Rs 11,000. Now they will earn Rs 14,000. This will be applicable from January itself. This increase in salary will cost the BEST Rs 80 crore.
This proposal was accepted by both the BEST and the BEST Workers Union. The Workers Union also demanded the merger of the BEST and the BMC budgets. So that the BMC would help the BEST financially. The decision about the merger will be taken in the next 3 months.
By 8pm on Wednesday 900 BEST buses were back on the road.
