BJP Wants to Rename Bandra Terminus After Balasaheb Thackeray
As an attempt to repair its ties with the Shiv Sena BJP wants to rename Bandra Terminus as Balasaheb Thackeray terminus.
The BJP wants to rename Bandra Terminus after the late Bal Thackeray.
BJP MP Poonam Mahajan has already written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis & union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, asking for permission to rename Bandra Terminus as Balasaheb Thackeray terminus.
Poonam Mahajan has said that this will be a fitting tribute to Balasaheb as he lived a large part of his life in Bandra. As she has mentioned in her letter he was Bandra’s most great resident.
Poonam Mahajan has said that there is no political interest behind the proposal.
However, Mahajan’s own Mumbai North Central constituency has a huge Sena impact and a split between the two parties can affect her chances in the upcoming elections.
Bandra Terminus comes within Mahajan’s Constituency and is a crowded railway station. It was built in the 1990s.
Mahajan who shares a good bond with the Thackeray family has also planned other projects like the makeover of a garden in Powai which will have Thackeray’s cartoons.
