Australia's 'Egg Boy' Donates $69,000 to NZ Attack Survivors

Will Connolly who threw an egg at politician donates all the money raised to victims families.

After the horrific attacks at the mosque’s in Christchurch, Austlralian politician Mr. Fraser Anning was having a press conference a day after the attacks, and there he said the blame fell on the New Zealand government and the muslims who have immigrated to the country.

During the conference Will Connolly a 17 year old Australian came from behind and hit Mr. Anning with an egg on the face, after this he was tackled by security and Mr. Anning trying to hit Mr. Connolly footage from the event went viral.

Online fundraising campaigns were set up for Mr Connolly. They called him the "Egg boy" and donated money to help him "buy more eggs" and to cover legal fees. Police have decided not to press charges against the teenager but gave him a “official warning” also they said Mr. Anning acted in self defense when he punched the teenager.

Via the online fundraisers people donated around $69,000 to pay for his legal fees, but the lawyers representing him announced that they would not be charging any fees for representing him. Mr. Connolly then decided that the best use of the money was to donate all of it to the families of the victims from the attacks.

He said “To the victims of the tragedy, I wholeheartedly hope that this can bring some relief to you.” additionally he said that he understands that what he did was wrong. However, this incident has united people. Mr Anning has refused to apologise for his comments.
