Amusement Park Ride Breaksdown in Gujarat
At the Amrapali Amusement park in Ahmedabad, a cable holding a pendulum ride snapped mid-air and came crashing down. Two have lost their lives while 29 are injured.
Amrapali Amusement park is near the Kankaria lake in Ahmedabad. On 14th July 2019 The park was very busy as it was a Sunday. At 5:40 pm people were enjoying a pendulum ride at the amusement park. While the ride was going on A cable that was holding the pendulum ride snapped. This caused the spinning structure to come crashing down on the ground while people were still strapped into the ride. People at the park said they saw the cable snapping and when the ride was 20 feet in the air. When the cable snapped it came crashing down on the crowds that were waiting below the ride.
Chief Fire Officer M F Dastoor said that the accident was caused because the main cable that held the ride up and allowed it to swing, snapped while the ride was swinging mid-air. Thus the circular bottom came loose and fell to the ground. After the incident occurred the park was evacuated immediately. 2 people were pronounced dead and 29 were left injured with at least 3 of them in critical condition in the hospital.
DCP Bipin Ahire said they would be filing a case against all those responsible for the incident. They will also check the operation and maintenance of the ride. They have already detained representatives of the Amrapali Amusement Park which is run by the company Superstar Amusement Pvt Ltd.
