Amravati Man Murdered Due to WhatsApp Forward

You all know about the Udaipur tailor who was beheaded by 2 Muslim men. He was beheaded for supporting Nupur Sharma on social media. All this happened on 28th June 2022. Prior to his death, one other person was also killed for sharing a message on WhatsApp related to Nupur Sharma. 54-year-old Umesh Kolhe, a chemist, had put a controversial post on a WhatsApp group named Black Freedom which was related to the statement of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. Dr Yusuf Khan, a veterinary doctor, was a friend of Kolhe for 16 years. Khan shared Kolhe’s post on another WhatsApp group where the members got angry after reading it and then decided to take revenge on Umesh Kolhe. The first attempt on Umesh Kolhe happened on June 20, but the plan could not succeed. After that, the next day on June 21, when Umesh was returning home after closing his shop at around 10 - 10.30pm, he was stopped by two men on a motorcycle. A person on the motorcycle stepped off and stabbed Kolhe in the neck with a sharp object. Kolhe was carrying two bags, his mobile phone, and several personal belongings with him.
Kohle's son Sanket said he and his wife Vaishnavi were accompanying his father on another scooter. When the men attacked. My father fell and was bleeding. Kolhe was transported to the nearby Axon Hospital with the assistance of bystanders where he died during treatment. Amravati police initially termed the beheading as a possible case of robbery but then Kolhe’s belongings were not touched. BJP alleged that the real nature of the crime was hidden for political reasons. The CCTV footage of the crime scene was checked, and the knife with which the attack was done was acquired by the police and the two persons in the footage, Mudassir, and Shahrukh were arrested on June 23. Now, a total of 7 persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of the 54-year-old chemist so far. This includes Kolhe’s friend Veterinary Dr Yusuf Khan. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said the government would look into the issue. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation of this case. Investigation into the murder has also revealed that three more residents of Amravati were threatened and made to apologise for supporting Nupur Sharma's views.
