Air India Passengers Stuck in London for 3 Days
Nearly 600 Air India passengers were stranded in Heathrow Airport in London due to technical issues and delayed flights.
Air India flight AI 130 was stranded at Heathrow Airport in London for 3 days, it was supposed to leave at 1:15 pm on the 28th of May but ended up leaving on May 30th at 2:00 pm. The passengers were originally told to wait for 1.5 hours. The reason given was a fuel leak in one of the engines.
Passengers were put up in hotels but were not given proper details on when they would be able to continue on their journey. When they arrived the next day for their new flight they were told that even that plane was delayed and they would have to wait another 24 hours.
Air India had sent engineers and parts to fix the plan on a flight to Heathrow but that was also delayed by over 8 hours. Thus delaying the previous flight, so at one point there were around 600 Air India passengers stranded at Heathrow. With most passengers not able to find other flights they were stuck waiting on the Air India to fix the plane.
One passenger had spent Rs 2.5 Lakh for three tickets on Jet Airways. Those flights were cancelled and they never received a refund. They then spent another Rs 2.85 Lakh on another 3 tickets on the Air India flights that were also delayed. The passengers from the first flight from the 28th were still stuck until Thursday at 2:00 pm when there flight left London.
