Actor-Politician Pawan Kalyan Travels on Car’s Roof

Pawan Kalyan travelled to Ippatam village in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, sitting on the rooftop of his car, ignoring road safety and inviting criticism.

Pawan Kalyan is a very famous Indian actor who has now also turned into a politician. He mostly works in the south Indian film industry & his films are big hits in Telugu cinema. Kalyan is the younger brother of actor Chiranjeevi. He is also the Chief of the Jana Sena Party (JSP). Now a video of him has shocked everyone on the internet, which is going viral. Pawan Kalyan travelled to Ippatam village in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district on 5th November 2022, where a demolition drive was underway for road widening. According to the JSP, the demolition drive is unethical. JSP and other opposition parties said that houses of people are being demolished, while the authorities have stated that they are demolishing structures like compound walls that were built by encroaching public spaces. Kalyan went to Ippatam sitting on the rooftop of his car, ignoring road safety rules. Accompanied by a convoy, Pawan Kalyan was seen casually sitting on the car roof without enough support.

The video of the daredevil act has gone viral. Several people criticised the actor-politician on social media for his reckless act, which compromised his own and others’ safety.

One twitter user commented, “Keeping safety aside, what message is he giving to his followers by sitting on top of the car?” Another said, “Is it not dangerous to carry so many people in a car....if anything happens then who will take the blame…” Pawan Kalyan’s exhibition of machismo was seen as a statement against the ruling YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, which had prevented him from conducting a yatra in Visakhapatnam last month citing law and order issues. Mild tension prevailed in the region after police attempted to stop the actor from visiting Ippatam. However, overruling the police orders, the actor went ahead and reached the village on foot. He expressed his grief with the victims who had lost their properties in the demolition.

Reportedly, 53 houses have been demolished by the authorities so far. TDP and JSP allege that the government targeted their supporters by specifically demolishing their houses. However, authorities clarified that they have followed a due process of serving eviction notices before carrying out the demolitions. Speaking to the media, Pawan Kalyan lashed out at the government and alleged that the demolition was purely an act of vendetta. What do you think about this whole incident?
