Aamir Khan’s Daughter Sexually Assaulted at Age 14
Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan, who was diagnosed with clinical depression over four years ago, has opened up about her sexual assault.
23-year-old Ira Khan is the daughter of actor Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta. Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan, who was diagnosed with clinical depression over four years ago, has never shied away from talking about her mental health on social media. In her latest Instagram video, she spoke her heart out and talked about the factors that could have possibly contributed to her depression. Ira said she suffered sexual abuse by someone she "kind of knew” at the age of 14. After Ira realized that something was wrong, she spoke about the incident with her parents. “Once I spoke to them I was out of that situation, I didn't feel bad anymore...I moved on."
She said that at the age she suffered from tuberculosis at the age of six. She, however, added that she got lucky as she recovered from the disease quickly. She also spoke about her parents' divorce. Aamir and Reena, his first wife, got divorced in 2002. Ira, however, said that since the divorce was amicable, she never felt traumatized by it. "The whole family is friends. We are not a broken family by any means," she said in the video. In terms of work, Ira Khan directed her first play in which Yuvraj Singh’s wife played the main role, Hazel Keech.
