In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old student suffered a major brain injury and is now battling for her life after her tuition teacher slapped her near Mumbai’s Nallasopara.
In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old student suffered a major brain injury and is now battling for her life after her tuition teacher slapped her.
Nine-year-old Deepika Patel belongs to Nallasopara East, Maharashtra. She studied in class 5 and used to attend private tuition from 20-year-old Ratna Singh.
On 5th October 2024, Singh slapped Deepika twice under her ear for being allegedly mischievous during their tutoring session.
The slaps were so hard that the victim's earring got stuck inside her cheek and caused her to suffer temporary deafness.
Within a week, Deepika started developing major health issues and was admitted to the hospital on 13th October 2024.
However, her condition worsened, and she was later shifted to the ICU of KJ Somaiya Hospital, Mumbai.
The doctors diagnosed her with severe brain injury, jaw stiffness, severe injury to windpipe, and a tetanus infection.
She was put on the ventilator on 24th October 2024 and continues to be in a critical condition.
Deepika’s parents have filed an FIR against Singh and are continuously praying for their daughter’s recovery.
The Mumbai police are interrogating Singh and investigating the incident further.
