75 News Govt Colleges to be Set By 2022

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has decided to increase the number of medical institutions in the country to improve medical facilities in India.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has decided to increase the number of medical institutions in the country. They have approved to set up 75 new government colleges to existing government Hospitals by 2022-22. The project will be carried out in two phases. 

The Phase 1 58 medical colleges will be set up with existing government hospitals. 39 colleges under Phase 1 has already started. The remaining will start by 2020-21. In Phase 2, 18 colleges have been approved.These colleges have more than 15,700 MBBS seats. This will provide an increase in doctors and better medical care in government hospitals. The new medical colleges will be set up in areas that have no medical colleges and in government hospitals that have at least 200 beds. The total expenditure for this project will be Rs 24,375 crore.
