3 Killed on Kamal Haasan’s Movie Set

On 21st February a very tragic incident occurred on South Superstar Kamal Haasan’s latest film set ‘Indian 2’. A crane came crashing down and killed 3 technicians.The three men were in a box-like structure on top of the crane when it crashed. They were apparently working on the lighting arrangement for the shoot.The horrific accident took place around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at the EVP Film City near Chennai.
Actor Kamal Haasan said that he escaped death by a “whisker”. Because right before the crane fell Haasan, Heroine Kajal Aggarwal and Director Shankar were standing right under the crane but they moved just in time. Kamal Haasan has decided to pay rs 1 crore to the families of the dead and those injured. Lyca Productions is producing the film and has promised to pay Rs 2 crore to the victims. The company has said that they will take care of all the medical expenses.
Kamal Haasan said that it is very shameful that the cinema industry does not provide safe working conditions for its technicians. He said that actors show off about acting in big budget films but there is no point in boasting when technicians aren’t safe on the sets. Haasan said all industries are the same. There is no safety at all. Companies must take all safety steps to prevent such incidents. Meanwhile, a police complaint has been lodged against the operator of the crane, who escaped the spot after the incident. The police have launched a hunt for him.
