27-Year-Old Man Has a Wedding Without a Bride

The family of a 27 year old man from Gujarat with a learning disability, organised a grand wedding celebration for him. The absence of a bride made no difference to them.

A perfect wedding day is a dream for most. Everything, right from the outfit, to the venue and makeup, is considered while planning. A 27-year-old man named Ajay Barot from Gujarat also had such a dream. Ajay was diagnosed with a learning disability when he was a child.

His father Vishnubhai, who works as a conductor, said, "Ajay used to enjoy the wedding processions of other people and asked us about his wedding. We were unable to answer his question as it was not possible to find a match for him." When in February, Ajay's cousin got married, he was disheartened that his wedding was not organized. In order to make his dream come true and him happy, Ajay's family members decided to hold a wedding procession for him.

Wedding cards were printed, guests were invited, and the family made arrangements at a nearby community hall for 800 people and spent Rs. 2 lakh. They even organised a sangeet ceremony for him. Ajay was okay with no bride as long as the wedding procession was for him. His father said that, “I am very happy that I fulfilled my son's dream without thinking about what society would say.  All families with special children should fulfill their desires. It can be a positive step in their lives."Ajay’s father said that in the future, if they do find a bride for him they will make sure the celebrations are even bigger.
