ISH News Attends International Deaf Summit

The International Deaf Summit was held in Margao, Goa. The event was organised by Deaf Leaders Foundation, Deaf Can Foundation and Inspirealive. The Committee of the IHRA which stands for the International Human Rights Association worked closely with the team to organise the programme. It was held from 2nd January to 5th January 2020. 

Shri Pramod Sawant the current Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Digambar Kamat the former Chief Minister of Goa and Shri Govind Gaude the Art & Culture Minister of Goa were the Chief guests at the programme who showed their support to the Deaf community through their speeches. 

The event was a huge success. Pageant competitions, International film festivals. Various Deaf leaders attended the programme and gave presentations. People gave lectures on topics ranging from accessibility, broadcasting news, technology, etc. After the presentation, there would be panel discussions and the leaders would answer questions from the audience. 

The summit also had an exhibition where Deaf and hearing individuals displayed their products. A Gala event was held on the last day where Deaf people could socialise and gain knowledge. The event was extremely successful and extremely beneficial for the Deaf community.
