In general, food takes 24 to 72 hours (1 to 3 days) to move through your digestive tract. The exact time depends on the amount and types of foods you’ve eaten. The rate is also based on factors like your gender, metabolism, and whether you have any digestive issues that could slow down or speed up the process. Once in your large intestine, the partially digested contents of your meal can sit for more than a day while it’s broken down even more. Digestion is the process by which your body breaks down food and absorbs the nutrients your body. Anything left is a waste product, which your body removes.   • Watermelons digest in 20-25 minutes and various other melons take 30 minutes.

  • Cooked leafy vegetables such as brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower digest in around 40-50 minutes.

  • Root vegetables like beetroot, sweet potatoes and carrot digest in 50-60 minutes.

  • Juices or Broths do not contain any fiber and can be digested easily in just 15 minutes.

  • Meat and fish can take as long as 2 days to fully digest.
