The Best Indoor Plants You Must Have in Home

A list of the best indoor plants that one must have in their home.

This is one of the ISH indoor plants. Isn’t it beautiful? I love plants! Therefore, I have voluntarily taken up the responsibility of this little fellow in our office.

Having indoor plants is extremely beneficial. Indoor plants purify the air, improve mental health, increase immunity, aid faster recovery from illnesses, boost attention span, improve sleep, increase natural humidity, and to top it all, they make the interiors more beautiful.

All of this makes it important and essential to have indoor plants. But which ones? You might not know, right?

Here are the best indoor plants:

Snake Plant

The Snake Plant has proven to remove toxins from the air. It has vertical leaves and can grow in any kind of light. It needs to be watered only when the soil is dry. It can survive occasional neglect, earning it the nickname ‘unkillable plant’. This makes it a perfect choice for people with busy lifestyles.

Spider Plant

The Spider Plant doesn't require constant attention and can thrive with little care. It can grow in low light conditions and has great air purifying qualities. The Spider Plant has proven to remove 95% of pollutants from the air in just 24 hours. Its flowy leaves give a beautiful aesthetic look to the room, so many people place them in their living rooms.

Pothos

Pothos are also known as devil’s ivy or golden pothos. They have vibrant green or marbled green and yellow heart-shaped leaves. They are easy to grow as they need only indirect sunlight and infrequent watering. Pothos are an excellent way to add color and flow to the room.

Peace Lily

Imagine how calming and low maintenance a plant would be that has the word ‘peace’ right in its name. The Peace Lily is easy to take care of and doesn't need much light to grow. It can live for years and produce broad white flowers continuously, making it aesthetically pleasing. Peace Lily is proven to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. However, keep them away from pets and small children as they may cause vomiting or tongue swelling if eaten.

Chinese Money Plant

The Chinese Money Plant is famous for its unique coin-like round-shaped leaves. It requires moderate water but bright indirect sunlight to grow. Therefore, it is advisable to place them in balconies or flower beds outside the window. As the plant matures, it produces small baby plants in the soil. These can be uprooted and replanted in different pots and are often used for gifting purposes too.

Marigold

The Marigold flower is one of the most common flowers found in India. They come in vibrant orange and yellow colors. Marigolds can be planted in any non-acidic garden soil. They require direct sunlight throughout but daily watering only until their root system is developed. A developed root system makes Marigolds drought-resistant, demanding only weekly watering.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera must be placed near the window because it requires bright indirect sunlight to grow. It needs to be watered once a week or when the soil is dry. Although, be careful and attentive of it as Aloe Vera has sharp, pinkish spines along its edges.

Jade

The Jade plant has thick, woody stems and oval-shaped leaves, making it look like a miniature tree. They live for a very long time but are low maintenance. Jade plants require 6 hours of bright indirect sunlight and should be placed near the window. They demand regular watering only during their growing seasons, i.e., spring and summer.

ZZ Plant

The ZZ plant is popular for its waxy, shiny, and wide upward shooting leaves. It is a slow-growing plant that thrives in indirect sunlight but can also grow in many lighting conditions. It needs watering only once every couple of weeks. But it is important to wipe the plant’s leaves gently with a damp washcloth, otherwise, the dust can block the leaves’ pores and dull their shine.
