Personal hygiene is something that we have all been taught from our very childhood. We have a lot of habits that we follow to stay healthy and clean. For example, brushing our teeth, having a shower etc. Sometimes, people do not follow good hygiene habits as they may be lazy. However, it is very important that we follow good hygiene as it helps us to stay healthy, and look good too. Signs of poor hygiene are visible on the first impression, and first impressions are very important. Health and hygiene helps to keep us safe from illness. That is why, it is very important that we follow good hygiene practices.

1.      Oral hygiene:

Oral hygiene means, taking good care of your mouth. Many times, bacteria enters the body through the mouth. Hence, it is important that we keep our mouth clean.

Experts recommend that we brush our teeth twice every day. Once in the morning, and once before going to sleep.  This helps to reduce the build up of plaque. Plaque develops near the gums, and causes bad breath, and many other issues. The regular use of floss and mouthwash helps in good oral hygiene too.

2.      Beard hygiene:

This is especially for men with beards. Our skin gives out oil and sweat throughout the day. This oil and sweat is the best environment for unwanted germs and bacteria to develop. This is why trimming and regularly washing your beard is soo important.

3.      Hand hygiene:

The year 2020 has made us realise how important hand hygiene is. Hand hygiene doesn’t only mean regular washing of the hands, but also trimming your nails regularly.

If it’s not possible for you to wash your hands regularly, using hand sanitizer works as well. It is also important to moisturise your hands regularly, using a cream. 

4.      Hair hygiene:

It is important to wash your hair daily. Many people prefer not to use shampoo everyday, but washing your hair with plain water everyday is very important. Bad hair hygiene leads to problems like dandruff and greasy hair. It is also recommended to use oil on your hair, to ensure strong roots, and good hair growth.

5.      Overall body hygiene:

Having a shower is very important. Through the day, we sweat. This sweat causes bad body odour, and also helps in the growth of bacteria and germs. Hence, it is important that we shower at least once everyday.

6.      Intimate hygiene;

Similar to trimming your beard, trimming your intimate areas too, help prevent bacterial growth which causes infections. There are also a number of intimate washes available, which you can use. It is important to keep the area clean and dry.
