Meaning of Indian National Anthem in Indian Sign Language and Hindi

On the auspicious occasion of India completing 75 years of Independence day, we’ll tell you about the historic importance and meaning of the Indian National Anthem

India was declared independent of British rule on 15 August 1947, and the status of control were handed over to the country’s leaders. The National Anthem of India, “Jana Gana Mana”, was written by Nobel award winner Rabindranath Tagore. Originally, it was named “Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata”, written in Bengali Sanskrit and contained five stanzas. However, today, the anthem which is sung is a snippet of the song as only a single paragraph is adopted as the National Anthem of India. Now lets see the meaning of the National Anthem.

  1. Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he    

   Bharata-bhagya-vidhata.

India your name is so strong and your always on people’s minds. The destiny of each and every Indian person lies in your hands. 

  1. Punjab-Sindh-Gujarat-Maratha Dravida-Utkala-Banga  

The poem talks about various places that were part of India before the UK captured us. Rabindranath Tagore mentions places like Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Bengal and the South Indian States which speak in Dravidian Languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Tagore says that each and every person living in these places, loves India and India’s name is in their hearts. 

  1. Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga. 

India’s name is not only chanted by the people of India. It echoes in the hills of the Himalayas and the Vindhya Mountain Range which is in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh & Maharashtra. The name of India is in rivers of Yamuna and Ganga and the Indian Seas. Be it winds blowing on the mountains of the water flowing through rivers and oceans, India’s name echoes everywhere.

  1. Tava shubha name jage, 

Indian people, the mountains, the rivers, the oceans, each and every living being & living in the vast land, starts its day with the name of India. The anthem urges us to wake up from our sleep and helps us in remembering the struggles and countless sacrifices which our freedom fighters underwent while fighting the war for our independence.

  1. Tava shubha asisa mage, 

All Indians are constantly praying for India’s blessings. 

  1. Gahe tava jaya gatha, 

People are always talking about India’s success, achievements. Indian people only want India’s development. 

  1. Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he 

Bharata-bhagya-vidhata.

Tagore says that India only wants the well-being of its people. India decides the destiny of its citizens. 

All: Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he, Jaya jaya jaya, jaya he!
