Healthy Sweets to Make Diwali Healthy!

We often indulge in a lot of sweets which may be harmful for us. Here are some ways by which you can eat your sweets, and also maintain your health.

With Diwali around, our enthusiasm and preparations are in full swing to celebrate and have fun. However, it is important for us to be careful about what we eat, especially with the sweets, which could cause us alot of health issues.

You may think, I'm telling you not to eat sweets. Not at all!

However, I will tell you how you can make them healthier. I will tell you some changes you can make, to make your sweets more healthy.

  • Go for milk based desserts

Milk is a good source of protein and desserts can be easily made out of it. Choosing sweets like shrikhand, kheer etc helps us to make healthier changes in it, like adding dry fruits etc.

  • Replace sugar with natural sweeteners

Instead of making sweets with sugar, you could use natural sweeteners like dates, raisins and fresh fruits. Jaggery and honey can also be used, however, these should be used in small quantities.

  • Be creative

You can try making traditional sweets, with a twist! Using healthy ingredients in sweets is a very good option. Example, Dates and sesame ladoo, oats dates and nuts ladoo, fruit kheer, papaya halwa, carrot kalakand, chikki made of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxseed etc.

  • Portion control

When eating sweets, be mindful of controlling your intake. Eating sweets in smaller quantities will help in keeping you healthy.

  • Healthy drinks

You can have drinks like ginger lemonade, kiwi margarita, masala milk, cucumber mint cooler etc. these help to stay hydrated and are also healthier options.

  • Add a salad to every meal

A good bowl of colourful vegetables with every meal will certainly help you by maintaining your intake of fiber etc.

So follow these tips, and we hope you have a Happy, Healthy and Safe Diwali

Happy Diwali!!!
