Jalapenos are also known as the “Jalapeno Pepper”. It has been used by people in South America for 1000s of years. Mexico is the world’s largest producer of Jalapeno peppers,  they have around 70,000 acres of land, dedicated to growing them. Jalapenos are also produced in large numbers in the United States, mainly in Texas and New Mexico which both border with Mexico. The climate is ideal, as this region is where the pepper was originally discovered. There are three major types of Jalapenos, on the basis of how spicy they are. They are Mild Jalapenos, Medium Jalapenos, and Hot Jalapenos. 

Now, let me tell you about the health benefits of eating Jalapenos. 

High in nutrients:

Jalapeños are low in calories and full of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants.

They contain a good amount of Vit C and B6. Vitamin C helps in keeping our skin healthy and firm, and Vitamin B6 is an important nutrient that is used for various bodily functions. 

Can promote weight loss: Jalapeños may help you lose weight by boosting your metabolism, which increases fat burn and reduces your appetite

May fight cancer:

Lab studies have shown that jalapenos have strong anti-cancer properties and is capable of killing over 40 types of cancer cells without harming normal cells

Helps to prevent stomach ulcers:

While it is commonly believed that spicy foods like jalapeños can cause or aggravate stomach ulcers, research has shown this to be false. In fact, the chemical capsaicin in chili peppers may protect the stomach from developing ulcers in the first place.

Jalapenos are available at local vegetable vendors. They are also available bottled in a water like solution. These are known as pickles. You can either have them plain, but be careful as you may find them to be spicy. You can also use them in salads, sandwiches, or simply eat it along with food as a pickle.
