World Cup 2019: India vs Australia

India defeats defending champions Australia in a thrilling match at the Oval in London.

The World Cup’s India vs Australia match was held yesterday (9th May 2019) at the Oval London.  India defeated the defending champions and won by 36 runs. This is a very important victory for India. India won the toss and chose to bat. This was a good decision on the part of the captain Virat Kohli. India scores of 352-5.  

Shikhar Dhawan was the high scorer with a total of 117 runs. After a bad performance in the India vs South Africa match Virat Kohli came back in form and scored 82. Hardik Pandya came in the end scored a quick 48 runs which pushed India to a high score. This was a very difficult for Australia to chase. However they only managed to score 316. The last wicket was taken on the last ball. They really struggled to keep up with the high total set by India. India’s bowlers were in superb form with Bhuveneshwar Kumar getting 3-50 and Jasprit Bumrah 3-61. They both continued their excellent performance after their last match against South Africa.

Virat Kohli after the game said, it was a great win for India especially after lost the series to them in India in February & March. He was very happy with how Dhawan played, Pandya and Dhoni played. He was happy to see the batting and bowling working well together. This is a very important week for India with matches against New Zealand on Thursday 13th June and the big match against Pakistan on Sunday 16th June.This win leaves India third on the points table.
