YouTuber Who Kept Animals, Cylinders On Rail Tracks Arrested
YouTuber Gulzar Sheikh arrested for placing dangerous objects on railway tracks for viral videos.
On 1st August 2024, YouTuber Gulzar Sheikh, known for his channel "Gulzar Indian Hacker," was arrested by the UP Police and Railway Police Force for placing random items on railway tracks. Gulzar's channel has over 2,35,000 subscribers, with 243 videos and more than 13 crore 70 lakh collective views. One of his "Shorts" videos alone has 9 crore 90 lakh views.
In his videos, Gulzar places objects like earbuds, melons, needles, keys, stones, hand grenades, and smartphones on train tracks to show the aftermath of a speeding train passing over them.
On 1st August, an X (Twitter) user named "TrainWaleBhaiya" posted a video showing Gulzar placing items like cycles, soaps, stones, concrete blocks, gas cylinders, and even a live chicken on railway tracks. The post tagged concerned railway departments and went viral, receiving 17 lakh views, over 14,700 likes, and 7,500 reposts within 24 hours.
The viral post sparked concerns about train safety in India, especially with the recent increase in train derailment accidents. Ironically, Gulzar can be heard urging viewers not to try such stunts in his videos.
The Legal Hindu Defence, a volunteer legal group established by BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, filed a complaint against Gulzar. The UP Police and Railway Police Force arrested him the same day for "the risk of public mischief" and "potential train derailments" under several sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), The Railway Property Act, 1966, and the IT Act, 2000.
Shehzad Poonawalla confirmed Gulzar's arrest through a post on X (Twitter), calling him a "Rail Jihadi" and assuring strict punishment for his actions.
