Youtuber Drives at 143 kmph & Hits Bike, Video Goes Viral

Influencer Rajat Dalal faces backlash and legal action after a viral video shows him driving recklessly, hitting a biker, and showing no remorse.

A video showing influencer Rajat Dalal recklessly driving at high speed on the Mathura-Faridabad highway has sparked outrage on social media and led to legal action against him. The video, which went viral on 30th August 2024, shows Rajat driving between 140-145 km/h, overtaking cars carelessly, and even hitting a biker without stopping to check on them. The video was filmed from inside the car by a person sitting in the back seat, while a woman sitting next to Rajat repeatedly asked him to slow down. Despite her concerns, Rajat continued driving at a dangerous speed. After hitting the biker, Rajat showed no remorse and casually remarked, "Gir gaya, koi baat nahi. Roz ka yahi kaam hai ma’am" (He fell down, no big deal. This is an everyday thing, ma’am). The woman pleaded with him to stop, but he ignored her and kept driving. Social media users were quick to condemn Rajat's behavior, calling it a "hit-and-run" crime. One user commented, "How can he be an influencer? Influencing others by rash driving and hitting other citizens on the road without any concern?" Another wrote, "While China and America are making strides, individuals like Rajat Dalal are dragging India's reputation through the mud." In response to the backlash, Rajat posted a video claiming that the viral video was "old" and that he had no idea how it went viral. He stated, "I don’t have any data, nor do I have my Instagram account at the moment. The video that’s circulating now is old. I am done with all these controversies, fights, and abuses. I am moving forward in life and focusing on a positive path." Despite his claims, the Faridabad Police have taken the matter seriously and have booked Rajat for rash driving and alleged hit-and-run. With the help of the cyber police, they identified the person who filmed the video as Kartik Chhabra. Kartik confirmed that he recorded the video on 25th February 2024, when Rajat was taking a white Volkswagen sedan for a test drive. On 31st August 2024, the Faridabad Police issued a letter announcing the suspension of Rajat’s driving licence. They have also formally requested the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ballabhgarh district, Faridabad, to cancel his driving licence. The case continues to draw widespread attention as people demand stricter actions against reckless driving.
