World Cup Tickets Priced For Rs 1.5 Lakh

Fanatic Sports the ICC’s official travel agent is charging nearly 10 times the normal ticket prices for the World Cup matches to be held in England.

The ICC has launched an inquiry into Indian website Fanatic Sports for selling Cricket World Cup tickets for nearly 10 times higher than the original prices. They are the authorised ticket agent for the ICC. They do not sell on “black” market. For example tickets for the India vs England match on June 30th are priced at Rs 20, 668 on the official ICC website, but Fanatic Sports is selling the tickets at Rs 87,510 for a “Platinum Ticket”. According to the ICC tickets cannot be sold for over the prices set by them.

The same site is also offering tickets for the much anticipated match of India vs Pakistan with tickets and a hotel room in Manchester for Rs 1.66 Lakh per person. However that hotel has room rates for Rs 17,000 for that night.

The ICC said the most expensive ticket for Indian Cricket fans would be for the finals if they make it at a cost of Rs 34,740. Fanatic Sports claim they are a “travel agent” and provide more than a ticket, they say that there prices include airfare, hotels, transport, food, but when asked for more details they would not release them and no information on these “package” deals could be found on their website as well.
