Women in Army Finally To Get Female Body Armour

After 50 years women in the Indian Army and the Indian Police force will finally get full body armour specially made for women.

After 50 Years women in the Indian Army and Police force will finally be getting full body protectors that are made for the female body, and not use the male versions. Till now the women were being forced to use the gear made for men. The full-body armour can be used in riots and violent encounters, and can protect against bricks, knives and acid attacks.

The DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) have said that the women had to wear these armours which were ill-fitting and restricted the movement due to improper sizing, unergonomic design and exposed sensitive regions.

This update to the Full Body Protectors, has taken too long 50 years after the first women started joining the Indian Armed Forces and Indian Police Service, Kiran Bedi was the first woman to join the Police Service. Punita Aurora was the first woman to become a commissioned officer in the Indian Army in 1968.
