Woman With Longest Nails Cuts Them After 3 Decades

Ayanna Williams who created the Guinness World Record for having the world's longest fingernails has cut them after 28 years.

Ayanna Williams, living in Houston, USA, had her name published in 2017 in the Guinness World Record for having the world's longest fingernails that measured nearly 19 feet long.  It took Williams more than two bottles of nail polish to paint her nails. Ms Williams had let her nails grow for 28 years growing her nails. However, she faced difficulties in carrying out day-to-day tasks. Activities like washing vessels or changing bedsheets became tough as her nails grow longer. She said, “With my movements I have to be very, very careful. So that I don't hurt myself with my nails - or break them.”

She then decided to cut her nails after 28 years. Before cutting her nails they measured her nails. Her nails had grown even longer. They were 24 feet and 0.7 inches. No one had such long nails in the world. An Electric Rotary Tool was used to cut her long nails. According to Guinness World Records, since the 1990s, there have been many people who have created records with their long nails but they never cut their nails. Ayanna is the first person to cut her long nails.

Ayanna Williams was very emotional while cutting her nails and said, “I have been growing my nails for 28 years. I am now ready for a new life. I know I am going to miss them, but it is time for them to go.”
