Will Smith Banned From Oscars for 10 Years

Will Smith has been banned from the Oscars gala and other Academy events for 10 years after the US actor slapped comic Chris Rock at the ceremony.

You all know the shocking incident that happened at this year's Oscar’s programme. Actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage. To know why he did it and for a full explanation click here to watch our previous video. After slapping Chris Rock, Will then won the award for best actor for the movie King Richard. The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is an organisation that organises the awards ceremony. They were very unhappy with Will’s behaviour and decided to have a virtual meeting on Friday to discuss disciplinary action. Now they have announced that Will Smith will not be allowed to attend the Oscars event in person or virtually for the next 10 years. This is because of Will’s unacceptable behaviour. The Oscars have decided that Will Smith will be allowed to keep his Best Oscar award, he will be nominated for Oscar awards in the future, but he will not be allowed to attend the ceremony. He can watch the award on TV. If he wins any award, someone can go receive the award for him.

Now, Smith has released a statement on the matter saying, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision."

Even Sony and Netflix - have paused their projects with Will. Rock, who began his latest stand up comedy tour shortly after the Oscars telecast, has not commented publicly on the slap. He told fans at a show last month that he is "still kind of processing what happened" and will talk about the incident "at some point".
