Lata Mangeshkar was allegedly fond of the former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Raj Singh Dungarpur. It was said that Dungarpur also reportedly felt the same for the singer. He fondly called her Mithoo. Raj Singh Dungarpur, who was from a royal family of Rajasthan, had pressure from his home to marry a girl only from a royal clan. He was not allowed to marry a commoner. When both Lataji and Raj had planned to get married, his family was completely against it. Raj accepted his father’s decision and never married but vowed not to marry anyone in his life and had informed his parents too. Lataji Mangeshkar also vowed the same, and the two had remained friends for life. It is said that on the death of Raj Singh in 2009, Lata Mangeshkar came to Dungarpur secretly to have one last 'darshan' of him. Once Lataji Mangeshkar was asked why she used to apply sindoor sometimes and on whose name. Lataji had replied, “Yes, I am a virgin Lata Mangeshkar and that I apply sindoor in the name of music.
Lataji had a very successful musical career. She earned a lot of money and had a net worth of Rs 360 crore. She had a lot of property and many cars. She had a luxurious home situated at Peddar road. Mumbai’s most expensive locality and owned some luxurious cars including Chevrolet, Buick and a Chrysler. Interestingly, The Nightingale of India was gifted an E-class Mercedes by late filmmaker Yash Chopra. The expensive car was a token of appreciation for singing in his movie Veer-Zaara.
Meanwhile, many questioned who will be the owner of Lata Mangeshkar’s property and his savings. According to rumors, her brother Hridaynath will be inheriting the late singer’s property. However, there’s no official confirmation regarding the same.
