What Really Happened to Khan Sir: The Full Bihar Coaching Controversy

Khan Sir faces legal troubles amid a Patna coaching centre controversy, an FIR over alleged firing, and a ?2 crore defamation case filed by Aaj Tak journalist Anjana Om Kashyap.

Khan Sir, whose real name is Faisal Khan, is one of India's most popular educators. Based in Patna, Bihar, he became famous for explaining complex topics in a simple and engaging way.

Through his coaching institutes, Box03 Khan GS Research Centre and Khan Global Studies (KGS), he has taught millions of students preparing for government exams. Coming from a middle-class family, he started teaching at a young age and reportedly earned as little as ?40 a day in his early years.

His popularity soared after he began uploading educational videos on YouTube around 2019. He later revealed that he had turned down a job offer worth around ?107 crore to continue providing affordable education.

Patna is known for its competitive coaching industry, and among its most prominent institutes are Khan Global Studies and Gyan Bindu Coaching, run by Roshan Anand.

On the night of 2 June 2026, a major controversy began when a group of people allegedly vandalized Khan Global Studies in Patna's Musallahpur area. Property was damaged, posters were torn down, and a security guard was assaulted and hospitalized.

Police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage. When Khan Sir reached the institute, he claimed the attack was deliberate, possibly linked to rival coaching operators, and alleged that gunshots had been fired. He also said threats had been received shortly after KGS celebrated the success of thousands of students in the Bihar Police recruitment examination.

Initially, attention focused on the attack on Khan Sir's institute. However, the case took a dramatic turn when a rival coaching institute released a video allegedly showing KGS security guards firing weapons. The footage went viral and shifted the focus of the investigation.

Police detained two security guards seen in the video. During questioning, they reportedly claimed they had acted on Khan Sir's instructions. The weapons were also seized for investigation.

Khan Sir strongly denied the allegations and claimed he was being falsely implicated. Police later registered an FIR against him and others in connection with the alleged firing incident. At the same time, action was also taken against people linked to the attack on KGS, including the arrest of Gyan Bindu Coaching director Roshan Anand.

As the controversy grew, students publicly took sides. While many supported Khan Sir and praised his contribution to affordable education, others demanded action against everyone involved.

Amid reports of a possible arrest, Khan Sir approached the court for anticipatory bail. On 9 June 2026, a Patna court granted him interim protection from arrest while allowing the investigation to continue.

The investigation is still ongoing, and no court has yet determined responsibility for the incidents.

Around the same time, Khan Sir became involved in another controversy. After Aaj Tak journalist Anjana Om Kashyap criticized several online teachers and coaching influencers over their role in the NEET scandal debate, Khan Sir strongly responded through videos and public statements.

His remarks went viral, leading to a public dispute. In June 2026, Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network filed a ?2 crore defamation suit against Khan Sir, alleging that his comments damaged their reputation and led to online harassment. The matter is now before the Delhi High Court.
