What is Happening in Maharashtra?

The political turmoil in Maharashtra has finally settled with Uddhav Thackeray being named as Chief Minister. Watch the video for all scandalous details.

There is a lot of confusion around the political situation in Maharashtra. The entire story is very dramatic. Let me tell you about it. You all know that the BJP won the election with 105 seats in alliance with the [Box 02 Shiv Sena who won 56 seats. However since the BJP refused to give the Sena a 50-50 sharing government and also refused to share the CM’s 5 year tenure. This is why the Sena broke their alliance with BJP. Now neither BJP nor Shiv Sena had 145 seats needed to form the government. This is why Sena went to the NCP (54 seats) and Congress (44 seats) to form the government.

After a lot of complications on 22nd November, Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress had come to an agreement and were all set to form the government. They had even decided to make Uddhav Thackeray the CM for 5 years. NCP’s Sharad Pawar had promised his support. However, in a surprising turn of events, on 23rd November BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis took the oath as the CM of Maharashtra. Shocked? Wait. And who was his deputy CM, NCP’s Ajit Pawar the nephew of Sharad Pawar.

But Sharad pawar had promised to support Sena? So how did this happen? Now things get more dramatic. Let me tell you. Ajit Pawar went to the BJP and told the BJp that all the 54 MLA of NCP support the BJP. They both went to the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and told him. The Governor then allowed them to form the government. Sharad Pawar got very angry and said that Ajit Pawar made this decision on his own and it was not the decision of NCP. NCP MLAs still support Sena. On Monday, 25th November NCP, Shiv Sena and the Congress all filed a case against the BJP in the Supreme Court. They said that the Governor made the wrong decision by allowing the BJP to form the government. Because all the 54 MLAs of NCP still support Sena. Shiv Sena said that it has an affidavit that states the support of 154 MLAs in total and can form the government. Sena said if the BJP really has the support of the NCP MLAs they must prove it. The SC agreed and said that the BJP needs to prove it has majority seats in the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday in a floor test. Floor test means that, the MLAs need to openly vote and say which party they support. This will be broadcasted live. After the SC announced this, Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis both resigned.

Yesterday all the MLAs were sworn in the Vidhan Sabha. The Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have confirmed their alliance. They met with Governor Koshyari and are going to form the government. Finally after all the drama, today Uddhav Thackeray will be sworn in as the CM of Maharashtra. As per discuss there were going to be two deputy CMs one from NCP and one from Congress. Now it has been decided that the deputy CM will from NCP and the speaker of the Vidhan Sabha will be from Congress.
