In a shocking case from West Bengal, A Deaf Man has been arrested on the charges of killing his own unborn child.
On 30th October 2022, in Kolkata, a Deaf man named Arindam was arrested from a mall by the Sankrail police station officers. Let us tell you why Arindham was arrested?
32-year-old Deaf man Arindham, a resident of Howrah, met Deaf girl Aditi, a resident of Sankrail, through Facebook. In February 2020, Aditi-Arindam got married. Arindam took his wife to his parents' rented house in Belur. Although everything was fine for the first six months, it is alleged that the in-laws started torturing Aditi demanding money. It is alleged that Aditi was kicked in the stomach and her unborn child died. Despite this, Aditi tried to adjust to her husband's house. But then Aditi was kicked out from her in-laws house. Arindam took Aditi to her aunt's house in Belur. But the problems did not end. Last year, Aditi’s father, Krishnendu Chakraborty, arranged a house for Aditi and Arindam. But in March 2022, Arindam left Aditi and went back to his parents' house. Aditi’s father then brought the girl back to his house. A complaint was lodged at Nischinda police station in Howrah, but the case was not registered. Finally, on 25th June 2022, Aditi’s father Krishnendu filed a complaint at the Sankrail police station. At that time, the police raided Arindam’s parents house in Belur and did not find Arindam or anyone from his family. Arindam's family had changed their address.
When the family came to know about the complaint, they filed for bail even before they were arrested. The High Court granted anticipatory bail to Arindam's father, Robin Chakraborty, mother Arpita and brother Anirdam. However, the High Court rejected Arindam's anticipatory bail application due to the allegation of the death of his wife's unborn child. The police were unable to find Arindam’s whereabouts as he had changed his phone number and address. However, on 21st October 2022, Arindam filed a habeas corpus case in the High Court stating that Aditi's family forcibly took her away from him.
On the order of the High Court, Aditi appeared in the habeas corpus case on 28th October. After considering all aspects, the judge dismissed the habeas corpus case. After that, the police gathered Arindam's current address and news phone number from the High Court case file. After checking the location of the mobile phone and following Arindam, the police confirmed that he worked at the mall. On 29th October 2022, police officers raided the mall in plain clothes and nabbed Arindam. When the accused was brought to the court on 30th October, the judge ordered a 14-day jail term. While being taken to the jail, Arindam burst into tears. District Superintendent of Police Arijit Sinha said, "The accused was arrested as soon as he was found. Charge sheet will be submitted soon after the investigation. A case had been filed against Arindam and other accused in relation to killing of unborn child, attempted murder and torture of the bride.
