UP’s Health Model To Be Replicated Across India

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the Centre would implement UP’s “health mela” model across India.

Union Minister for Health, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on health in Uttar Pradesh. After the meeting he announced that soon, one critical care block will be set up in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. These 100-bed hospitals will have all emergency facilities, including ventilators and oxygen, to provide better treatment to people during any epidemic. An expenditure of 40 to 50 crore rupees will be incurred for the construction of each critical care block. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated that one state-of-the-art testing lab will also be set up in all the districts. This lab will offer 150 types of tests free of cost.

Additionally, 1,515 public health units will be established, and local district hospitals will be expanded to provide better health facilities. The foundation stone for these initiatives will be laid soon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The central government is allocating Rs 5000 crore to enhance basic resources in the health sector in UP as part of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. Dr Mandaviya added, “Health mela is being organized every week at every primary healthcare in the state and up to 3 lakh poor people get treatment at these fairs every week. This model will be implemented across the country,” The UP government has developed a digital platform for vaccination, which is very good. Also, it has prepared a dashboard to get digital information about the utilization of operation theatres in all hospitals, which will also be implemented at the national level,” Mandaviya said.
Mandaviya appreciated health practices followed in the state like Health Mela, e-RUPI voucher, E-kavach; Unified Disease Surveillance Portal model etc. He invited UP officials to New Delhi to make a presentation on the same so that such models can be implemented around the country.
