Uddhav Thackeray Loses Name and Symbol Of Shiv Sena
Uddhav Thackeray loses name, symbol of Shiv Sena founded by father Balasaheb Thackeray. For all the details, watch our video.
Shiv Sena has always been known to be the strongest political party in Maharashtra. It was founded by
Balasaheb Thackeray in 1966 and after his death his son Uddhav Thackeray was leading the party. Nearly eight months ago Eknath Shinde revolted against the then CM Uddhav Thackeray. He took more than 40 MLAs with him and ran away to Assam. Once he secured a majority he made an alliance with the BJP and formed a government in Maharashtra. This was a major coup. Uddhav had said that Shinde and the MLAs had betrayed the Shiv Sena and it was a major controversy. We have released a detailed video of how Ekanth Shinde ran away with the MLAs and assumed power. Click here for the full video. Shiv Sena was split into two camps. After Shinde assumed power he demanded to use the Shiv Sena symbol and the name of the party. The Election Commission on 8th October 2022 finally decided to freeze the party symbol of Shiv Sena and suggested both the factions led by Eknath Shinde & Uddhav Thackeray respectively to come up with three different names along with as many party symbols as possible.
The Election Commission of India on 10th October allotted a new election symbol to the Uddhav Thackeray camp.
They were given the party symbol of a ‘flaming torch’ and a new party name - Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. The Shinde led faction was given the name Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena and the party symbol of 'two swords and shield'. However both sides continued to fight for the name ‘Shiv Sena’ and the bow-and-arrow symbol. Last month Shinde and Thackeray claimed they should be given the name ‘Shiv Sena’ and the bow-and-arrow. Now after eight months the Election Commision has allowed Eknath Shinde to use the name Shiv Sena and the party symbol of bow-and-arrow. Uddhav will continue to use the name Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and the symbol flaming torch. It allowed the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray, whose father Bal Thackeray founded the Shiv Sena in 1966, to keep the 'flaming torch' poll symbol. Uddhav Thackeray lost the name and symbol that was created by his father. He said, "Eknath Shinde has stolen the Shiv Sena symbol. We will keep fighting and won't lose hope. For now, let Shinde be happy with his theft. Once a traitor, always a traitor. I will appeal this in the Supreme Court." Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut claimed Eknath Shinde made deals worth Rs 2,000 crore to get the Shiv Sena name and symbol and would share proofs soon.
