Trump Declares National Emergency, Signs 100 Orders In One Day
Donald Trump is now the 47th US President, making major policy changes and strengthening ties with India.
You all know that Donald Trump won the US elections and will become the 47th President of the United States. ISH News shared updates about it. You can watch them here if you’ve missed:
Donald Trump has officially been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025. This marks his second term as President. JD Vance has become the Vice President. During the oath-taking ceremony, Trump surprised many by not placing his hand on the Bible. Instead, he raised his right hand while his wife, Melania Trump, held two significant Bibles: Trump's personal Bible and the "Lincoln Bible" used by President Abraham Lincoln in 1861. While some speculated it was a mistake, it’s important to note that American law doesn’t require the Bible to be used during the oath.
On his first day in office, Trump made bold moves. He signed nearly 100 new orders, including two national emergencies:
1. National Emergency at the US-Mexico Border: Trump has promised mass deportations and stronger border security to stop illegal immigration.
2. National Energy Emergency: Trump plans to reverse President Biden’s policies on electric vehicles and focus on using the US’s vast oil and gas reserves to combat rising inflation.
Other significant actions include:
- Pardoning 1,500 of his supporters arrested during the Capitol riot in 2021.
- Ordering federal workers to return to office instead of working from home.
- Starting the process to pull the US out of the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Reversing nearly 80 rules set by the Biden administration.
Trump also lifted the TikTok ban, giving the platform 75 days to sell itself to a non-Chinese company, after his own viral videos on the platform helped him win the election. Trump has also stated he will soon sign an executive order limiting gender diversity recognition to only male and female.
Impact on India:
India’s diplomatic presence at the inauguration was highlighted by the presence of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in the front row, signaling stronger India-US ties. In a significant development, Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, attended a special pre-inaugural event by purchasing a $1 million (?8.6 crore) ticket. As one of the world’s largest refiners of oil, Mukesh Ambani’s relationship with Trump will be crucial for India’s energy sector.
Additionally, India is preparing to take back around 18,000 illegal Indian immigrants from the US. This cooperation between the two countries shows the growing strength of the India-US relationship.
Trump’s advisors have also revealed that he plans to visit India in April 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!
