PM Modi's US visit:
The war between Russia and Ukraine is still ongoing, and many lives have been lost. Recently, a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Oval Office turned into a heated argument, which was broadcast live for the world to see.
The meeting, held on **28th February 2025**, was supposed to discuss a minerals deal and the Russia-Ukraine war. However, it quickly turned into a fight. When Zelenskyy arrived, Trump teased him by saying, “He is all dressed up,” hinting that Zelenskyy was ready to put on a show for the media.
During the meeting, Trump told Zelenskyy, “You are losing the war, and your country is in big trouble.” When Zelenskyy tried to respond, Trump cut him off, saying, “No, you’ve done a lot of talking.”
Zelenskyy argued that Ukraine has been fighting the war alone, but Trump reminded him that it was only because of US support that Ukraine could stand against Russia. He said, “We gave you $350 billion through Joe Biden. Without our military equipment, this war would have ended in 2 weeks.”
The situation got worse when Zelenskyy disrespected US Vice President JD Vance, using bad words and saying, “Have you ever been to Ukraine? You come to Ukraine, then you will understand our problems.” He was also seen uttering a bad word in frustration, which shocked everyone.
Zelenskyy further angered Trump by saying, “You have nice oceans, and don’t feel now. But you will feel it in the future,” implying that the US feels safe because of its geography but will face attacks someday.
Trump warned Zelenskyy that his behaviour could risk starting World War 3. After the meeting, Trump tweeted, “Zelenskyy does not want peace. He disrespected the US in the Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.” This suggests that the US may stop helping Ukraine.
Russia was quick to react, offering economic cooperation with the US on rare earth minerals and energy. Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) said, “The free world needs a new leader.”
Adding to the drama, Elon Musk supported the idea of the US leaving NATO and the UN, replying “I agree” to a post on X.
Interestingly, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said that India’s side in the Russia-Ukraine war is peace.
This meeting has worsened US-Ukraine relations, and the world is watching closely as tensions rise. The next few years could bring big changes globally.
