A tourist family was allegedly attacked with swords and knives in a resort in Goa’s Anjuna area. A video of the horrific incident has been doing rounds on social media. A group of miscreants can be seen attacking Jatin Sharma and his family members in the clip, while a woman cries for help.  Images and videos also show the family members with deep cuts and injuries. A tourist family from Delhi were staying at a resort named Spazio Leisure near the beach.

Victim Jatin Sharma said that they had an argument with a waiter. They complained to the manager about him. The waiter was later fired from the job. Shortly after that, when the family was taking a bath in the pool, they spotted some people outside the resort. Jatin was then attacked by four-five men with knives and swords. The family too was attacked. Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and media in his social media post, Jatin Sharma states, “Police lodged a case under IPC Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) instead of 307 (attempt to murder). Police had arrested four attackers, but later released them. Do not visit @spazioleisureresort. No security was provided by the resort. Please help us get justice @narendramodi.”

Later, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant condemned the incident and said, “I have directed the Police to take the harshest action against the perpetrators," Sawant further ordered strict action and then IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) was added to the FIR after which the police arrested three accused persons, in the case. Reacting to a tweet, Goa Police said, "Section 307 has been added. 3 accused have been arrested. Departmental action initiated against delinquent police officers of Anjuna police station."
