Police Probe Alleged Plot to Target Salman Khan Before Tiger Shroff Firing

Seven people were arrested after gunmen fired at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, with police uncovering an alleged weapon supply network linked to the attack.

Tiger Shroff Firing Case: Police Probe Alleged Weapon Supply Network

ISH News had earlier reported the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai. The investigation has since expanded, with police arresting 10 people as of 22 October 2026 and examining an alleged weapon supply network linked to the attack.

Police suspect that several people helped arrange the weapon, transport it to Mumbai and assist the alleged shooters. Investigators are also probing possible links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and whether actor Salman Khan was the original target.

How the Alleged Plan Unfolded

According to police, 21-year-old Kunal from Sonipat, Haryana, had recently been released from jail on bail. A friend from Harsana village allegedly introduced him to Anil Pandit, who investigators suspect is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police allege that Pandit instructed Kunal to arrange a weapon for the attack. Kunal and another man, 19-year-old Sumit, allegedly obtained a pistol and 20 cartridges from Amritsar.

Kunal later persuaded a woman identified as Radha to carry the weapon to Mumbai. She travelled with another woman, Babita, from Uttar Pradesh.

On 15 October, Kunal allegedly took the two women to New Delhi Railway Station. The pistol was reportedly inside Radha’s bag. During their train journey, Kunal allegedly stayed in contact with them through an encrypted messaging app and passed on instructions.

The women reached Dadar railway station in Mumbai on 17 October and checked into a hotel. Police suspect that a minor boy later collected the bag containing the weapon near the hotel. Investigators are examining how the weapon was passed from one person to another before the shooting.

The Shooting in Juhu

On the evening of 18 October, gunmen opened fire at Tiger Shroff’s car near a football ground in Juhu, Mumbai. Tiger escaped unharmed, but his driver and a bystander were injured, according to reports.

Police suspect that the attackers may not have originally planned to target Tiger.

According to investigators, the men had first considered attacking actor Salman Khan. They allegedly visited the area around Salman’s home in Bandra to study the security arrangements. They are suspected of changing their plan after finding the security too tight.

Investigators believe the men then chose Tiger because they thought reaching him would be easier. Police are also examining whether social media posts and Instagram reels showing his football routine helped the attackers learn where he might be.

A report by Jansatta said CCTV footage and call records suggested the men had visited the football ground on 11 October but left without attacking because Tiger did not arrive that day. These details remain part of the ongoing investigation.

How Police Traced the Shooters

After the shooting, the alleged attackers abandoned a motorcycle near Andheri West railway station. Police traced the vehicle and examined its ownership history. Reports said it had changed hands several times since 2022, with some transfers not reflected in the registered ownership records.

Investigators then tried to reconstruct the suspects’ movements. The men reportedly travelled by local train towards Borivali and took an app-based cab to Surat in Gujarat. They later boarded the Pune–Jaipur Express and travelled towards Rajasthan. Police coordinated with other state forces to locate them. On 19 October, three suspects were arrested at Kota railway station in Rajasthan.

Reports have identified the three as Ritik Kurmi, also known as Roshan, Rehan and Phool Singh. Their reported ages, surnames and other identifying details differ across news reports. Police are continuing to investigate their individual roles.

Investigators suspect the men were trying to move towards Nepal after the shooting. The three were brought to Mumbai for further questioning. On 22 October, a court remanded them to police custody until 31 October as investigators continued efforts to recover the weapons and examine the alleged conspiracy.

Police Investigate Payments and the Alleged Network

Investigators are also examining how the attack was funded and who coordinated the suspects.

Early reports gave different figures for the payments allegedly promised to the shooters. One report said they received Rs.50,000 as an advance and were promised more money and jobs abroad. Another reported that the suspects had received Rs.37,000 and were promised a life abroad.

A later report cited police as saying that the shooters and people who allegedly provided logistical support received around Rs.2 lakh in total. Police are examining bank transfers, UPI payments and cash transactions to establish the amount and identify who paid whom.

The suspects’ phones are also part of the investigation. Police told a court that two mobile phones had been destroyed, making it harder to reconstruct communications. Investigators are examining other digital evidence to trace contact between the alleged shooters and their handlers.

Four More Arrests, Then Three Further Arrests

On 20 October, Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested four more people in connection with the case. They were identified as Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita.

Radha and Babita were arrested at New Delhi Railway Station, while Kunal and Sumit were arrested in Sonipat, Haryana. Police suspect that the women transported the weapon from Delhi to Mumbai, while Kunal and Sumit helped arrange it and coordinate its delivery. These arrests brought the total to seven at that stage.

On 22 October, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested three more people, taking the reported total to 10. Police are also investigating the alleged roles of Shubham Lonkar, described in reports as a key figure linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and Sameer, who is suspected of providing logistical support to the shooters.

Investigators are examining whether other people helped plan the attack or supplied money, weapons and transport.

What Police Are Investigating Now

Police are still trying to establish who ordered the attack, how the weapon reached the shooters and what roles each accused person allegedly played.

They are also investigating the possible connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and whether Salman Khan was the intended target before the alleged plan changed.

The gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, but investigators are continuing to verify the alleged links and the roles of those involved. The accused have not been convicted, and the allegations remain subject to the investigation and legal proceedings.
