The earth is facing a Climate Crisis. You all know that the earth’s temperature is continuously rising due to a rise in pollution. This is called “Global Warming”. The severe change in the weather will affect human beings in the future. This climate change can be seen all over the world. You may think that only countries like India experience really hot summers. But that is not the case. The coldest country in the world has just experienced a heat wave. Alert in Nunavut is in the northeastern part of [Box 03 Canada. Nobody has ever lived here. It is located just 817 km from the North Pole, and the usual temperature recorded there in the summer month of July is 5 degree celsius.
However when the temperature was checked last week, everyone was shocked. On 14th July 2019, the temperature in Alert had reached 21 degree celsius. Even at night the temperature was 15 degrees celsius. After 1995, this was the first time such a high temperature was recorded. When the temperature was checked the next day, it was 20 degree celsius. This is the first time such a high temperature has lasted for two consecutive days. Experts say that the oceans and glaciers in the North Pole are melting due to increase in the temperature. This is why temperatures are rising and glaciers are melting.
The summer of 2019 is the hottest year the earth has ever experienced. All parts of the world has been experiencing a terrible heat wave. Even in Europe it was very hot. In India, people have been rushing towards the hill stations to escape the heat, causing all the routes to the hill stations choke. The earth’s future is in big danger. It is time that people come together and work to take care of the environment. We might not be able to change what has already happened but we can control its effects.
