Swing Crashed At A Crowded Fair In Punjab

A high-rise swing with many people, including children on it crashed at a crowded fair in Punjab.

If you are a fan of amusement parks and rides, this is something you should definitely watch. A high-rise swing with many people, including children on it crashed at a crowded fair in Dussehra ground in Punjab's Mohali on 4th September 2022. A video of the incident is massively going viral, where the swing can be seen spinning and slowly going up. It stopped at a height of around 50 feet and continued to spin, but instead of descending slowly, the swing free-falls at a high speed. Around 16 people suffered injuries, including children, and were taken to a civil hospital in Mohali immediately after the accident. Many people were seen swinging out of their chairs into the air due to impact and a loud noise was heard, causing panic. The incident took place at around 9:15 pm. The organizers of the fair had permission to organize the event till 4th September 2022. However, a board notifying the extension of the deadline was put up at the spot which mentioned 11th September 2022 as the deadline. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsimran Singh Bal said, “Strict action will be taken according to the law".

An official said, "What we have come to know so far is that they had the permission to organize the show. However, no one would be spared if there is a mistake committed on their part.” The police official added, “There were no ambulances at the fair, and there was some negligence on the part of the organizers.People, instead of helping the injured, blamed the officials for arriving late to the spot.” The police said the reason is not known yet, however the investigation is underway.
