Suresh Raina, Guru Randhawa & Sussanne Khan Arrested

Cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhawa were arrested from a club in Mumbai’s Andheri early Tuesday morning for violating Covid-19 norms.

Because of the new strain of the coronavirus in the United Kingdom, the Maharashtra government on Monday 21st Dec decided to impose a night curfew in all the municipal areas of the state starting Tuesday 22nd night. On early Tuesday 22nd December morning, Mumbai Police raided a club called Dragonfly near the Mumbai airport. The raid was conducted because they were open beyond the permitted time and also the club was over crowded and breaking COVID safety rules. Guests were not wearing masks and following social distancing. Mumbai Police has said 34 people have been arrested including 7 staff members. This includes retired cricketer Suresh Raina, singer Guru Randhawa and Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife Sussanne Khan. They have been released on bail. 

Following the arrest, Suresh Raina released a statement, which said, “Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols,” Guru Randhawa also released a statement saying, “He promises to comply with government guidelines and protocols by taking all precautionary measures in the future. By far, he has been a law-abiding citizen and will continue to do so in the future as well,"

Sussanne Khan has now issued a clarification saying that she was at the club with her friends. At 2:30 am, the police raided the place and told the guests to wait. As per Sussanne, she waited till 6:00 am after which they were allowed to leave. She has stressed that she wasn’t arrested and the media is spreading false reports.
