Supreme Court Declares Final Ayodhya Verdict
The Supreme Court has finally passed the verdict on the sensitive Ayodhya case. Watch the video to learn more about the apex court’s judgement.
The Supreme Court CJI Ranjan Gogoi, announced the final decision about the Ayodhya case today at 10.30am. In short, Lord Rama was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh according to the Ramayana. As per Hindu beliefs, a temple was built at the place where Ram was born. Hindus believe that this was demolished in 1528 by the first Mughal emperor Babur and he built a mosque - Babri Masjid - in that same place. Hindus continued to believe that the land was there. There have been a lot of fights been Hindus and Muslim regarding the ownership of the land. There have been cases filed in the court but Hindus or Muslims were never happy with the decision. On December 6, 1992 the Babri Masjid was demolished by Hindu kar sevaks. The Supreme Court then seized the land and no one was allowed.
A case was filed by demanding ownership over the land. There was the Hindu side and the Muslims who were fighting for the land. Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and the Nirmohi Akhara were the main parties fighting for ownership of the land. Today the SC finally announced its decision. The SC studied the case and said that, they have to consider law to decide who the land belongs to. The entire 2.77 acres of land where the Babri Masjid was demolished goes to the Hindus for the construction of a Ram Mandir.
The SC also said that since the demolition of Babri Masjid was wrong and unfair to the Muslims. This is why the Sunni Waqf Board on the Muslim side will get five acres of alternate land. The Supreme Court has told the Central government to make a Trust and make sure all parties are allotted land appropriately. Central government must make a trust with board of trustees within 3 months. The trust will control the land and oversee the making of the Temple and Mosque.
