Singer Justin Bieber’s Face Has Been Paralysed

28 year old Justin Bieber is a world famous singer. He has a huge fan following in India. Justin is planning a world tour between May 2022 and March 2023. He is going to have music concerts in 125 shows in over 40 countries around the world. More than 1.3 million tickets for Justin’s tour have reportedly been sold. He was supposed to perform in Delhi on 18 October 2022. However now JB made a shocking announcement on his Instagram account which may lead to cancellation of all his shows. He posted a video on instagram saying he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome. It is a rare medical condition. In the video you can see that his one eye was not blinking, he was able to smile just from one side of his lips. JB said he has partial facial paralysis. 

 

The singer said the upcoming tour may be cancelled as he is "physically not capable of doing them".However Justin did not mention when he is expecting to recover from this rare condition. He has received a lot of support from his fans and people applauded him for creating awareness about the disease. 

 

What is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome? 

 

The Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a neurological condition caused by a virus named varicella-zoster that affects the nerves involved in the movements of the face. Moreover, Varicella-zoster is the same virus that causes chickenpox in children and shingles in adults. In this rare condition, when the nerves are inflamed, they lose their ability to function properly, which can cause facial paralysis. The illness can also result in painful, blistering rashes which can affect the ear and the mouth of an individual. In some other symptoms it can also affect the hearing ability of an individual either partially or completely.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is the second most common cause of facial paralysis.  It is said that early and correct treatment should be performed to avoid complications, such as permanent facial paralysis. The disease progresses rapidly and fully spreads itself in two to three days. Studies have shown that people who received treatment within the first three days of the diagnosis, have recovered fully.
