Shocking: Udit Narayan Kisses Fan on Lips During Concert
Udit Narayan's on-stage kiss with a fan during a concert sparked controversy, dividing opinions between criticism and support.
Renowned playback singer Udit Narayan has found himself at the center of controversy after a video of him kissing a female fan during a live concert went viral. The incident, which took place in Mumbai on 1st February 2025, has sparked debates on social media, with some criticizing his actions and others defending him.
A user on X (formerly Twitter), @JohnyBravo183, shared the video at around 9:45 AM. In the clip, Udit, dressed in a wine-red blazer, is seen performing his iconic song Tip Tip Barsa Pani while several female fans gather near the stage for selfies. As he poses with them, he gives them a peck on the cheek. However, in the final moment of the video, when a woman in a black dress clicks a selfie, she leans in to kiss his cheek, but he ends up kissing her on the lips.
The video quickly went viral, leading to mixed reactions. Some social media users criticized Udit, calling his actions unprofessional and inappropriate for a senior artist. Others, however, defended him, saying it was just a playful and affectionate moment.
As the controversy grew, old videos and pictures of Udit sharing affectionate moments with female singers like Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal also surfaced. In one clip, he is seen kissing Alka on a singing reality show, and in another, he kisses Shreya while handing her an award. This led many to believe that such gestures were a long-standing habit rather than an isolated incident.
On 2nd February, Udit addressed the controversy in a press statement. He expressed regret and stated that the kiss was unintentional and simply a moment of excitement during the performance. He emphasized that he has always respected his fans and colleagues and requested people not to judge him based on one incident.
Amidst this debate, Udit’s recent interview on 3rd February also caught attention. He expressed his desire to receive the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, saying, "I have won many awards, including National Awards, Filmfare, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan. Now, I wish to get Bharat Ratna like Lata Ji because she is my idol."
This statement added to the ongoing debate, with some fans supporting him while others questioned the timing of his wish, considering the controversy.
While Udit’s supporters continue to defend him, critics argue that artists must maintain professionalism, especially in public events. The incident has also led to numerous memes and jokes comparing Udit to Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his on-screen kisses.
