Scam Alert: These Ram Mandir Messages Are Fake

Be aware of different types of scamming messages related to Ram Mandir inauguration asking online donations & offering free VIP darshan and prasad being circulated online.

The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will soon be inaugurated on 22nd January 2024. It is the mega event of the century for us Indians. But it looks like some people are not beneath using such an auspicious occasion to scam people. Cybercriminals are trapping innocent people and looting money in the name of Shri Ram, literally. Here’s how:

- Cybercriminals are sending WhatsApp messages claiming to offer free VIP entry to Ayodhya temple on inauguration day i.e. 22nd January 2024.

- Some WhatsApp messages ask users to click on a link to enter their details for entry into Ram Mandir on 22nd January 2024. These messages claim to be an invitation from the Ram Janam Bhoomi Trust for the general public to attend the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony.

- Another similar WhatsApp message asks users to download an ‘APK’ (Android Application Package) file named 'Ram Janmabhoomi Grih Sampark Abhiyan.APK' to get VIP access.

- Other messages claim to deliver the ‘Shri Ram prasad’  with just advanced shipping charges or for free across India within 10-20 days after 22nd January 2024 and ask the users to enter their addresses for delivery.
These messages also encourage the users to share the message with their friends and family who may be interested in attending the ceremony. All the messages conclude with " Jai Shree Ram". Be aware of these messages as they are not being circulated by any government or temple or official management entities. Neither the state government, central government and nor the Ram Mandir trust has launched any kind of app for the VIP invites. The aim of these messages is to steal your data or inject dangerous files, malware or apps in your smartphones. Infected apps can turn your device into a surveillance tool, monitoring your activities, recording calls, and even capturing keystrokes. These malicious programs can steal your personal information including passwords, banking details, contact lists, private messages, photos, videos and even track your activity to exploit it for financial gain or identity theft. Therefore, please do not open any link, download any files or give away your personal information to these messages in the excitement to go to Ayodhaya for the inauguration ceremony because on 22nd January 2024, the entry is by invitation only. When it comes to any news related to the Ram Mandir opening, it’s best to verify through a trusted source or rely on official channels. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced “Only those with valid invites from Ram Mandir trust or on government duty would be allowed to enter Ayodhya on 22nd January 2024.” Yogi Adityanath instructed Ayodhya officials to ask all the local hotels to cancel - as many as possible - advance bookings of other people and give preference to those invited by the trust.
